When SaGa Frontier was first released in 1997, it was not magnificent, but it was memorable for its interesting attempts to do many things differently than the time-honored jRPG tradition demanded. Anyway, Square Enix hit the sweet spot with this one. Right at the start you get to choose a protagonist, and each story is distinct.
